Leading the Way

The Future of Transport Fruehauf NZ and Schmitz Cargobull.

On Wednesday 14 August 2024, Fruehauf celebrated the launch of Schmitz Cargobull S.KOe 3 axle trailer featuring advanced technology aimed at sustainable, efficient transport.

This trailer includes an electric refrigeration unit, a high voltage battery system, and an e-axle generator with integrated power electronics. The refrigerated unit is powered electric energy generated from a 20-volt e-axle generator attached to the trailers second axle, eliminating the need for a diesel generator.

The system stores harvested energy collected while driving above 60kph and braking in a 32kwh lithium-ion phosphate battery, protected by the trailers landing gear. An intelligent battery management function helps ensure optimal battery levels, enhancing reliability during stops. Customers are invited to register with Fruehauf for an opportunity to trial this new product.
